Fish Creek Ranch Lodge

The Lodge at Fish Creek Ranch is large, spacious, rustic and beautiful. It sits on pristine acreage with expansive wrap around views. A perfect setting for family reunions, weddings or corporate retreats. This is the quintessential western ranch, having been worked for generations since the 1880’s. It’s located at an elevation of 8,200 feet in the West Fork of the Dolores River Valley. Our guests describe The Lodge and property as one of the most peaceful and beautiful places they’ve ever experienced. The ranch is surrounded on all sides by national forest.

The Lodge is all about entertaining with multiple gathering areas for family and friends. The kitchen, living and dining areas are magnificent. The dining room table sits 12 people. There are multiple decks with comfortable outdoor chairs and dramatic views in all directions. There’s a wonderfully cozy outdoor fireplace near the large outdoor charcoal grill - a perfect space to relax. There are lots of other fireplaces to enjoy. Relax and enjoy dramatic views in the very large hot tub that accommodates 7 to 10 people.

Children will love the large game room with a ping pong table and a pool table!

Fish Creek Ranch Lodge's ranch manager is available to pick up guests at the Cortez Airport free of charge.  Transportation from other area airports - Telluride and Durango can be arranged.

There’s a reason why the ranch is called “Fish Creek Ranch”. The property is a fly fisherman’s paradise with some of the best private fly fishing waters in southwest Colorado including 4 miles of private water on three different streams. There are rainbow, cutthroat and brook trout and most trout are between 16 and 22 inches. The largest trout caught on the ranch so far was a 32 inch rainbow. 12 to 18 inch wild brook trout are common. If anyone else was to fish these waters they would have to trespass on Fish Creek Ranch property so it gets very little fishing pressure. If you are staying at The Lodge there are no rod fees.

There are endless activities at the ranch or nearby. Here are some of them…

Fly fishing, tubing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, wildlife photography, mountain climbing, river rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing and rock climbing. Guided fly fishing is available and can be arranged.

Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The ranch manager will use the snow cat to groom cross country skiing trails for your enjoyment. There are 3 sets of snowshoes (2 large 1 small available).  If you'd like to go snowmobiling tours can be arranged with outfitters at Dunton Hot Springs.  There’s also world class skiing at the Telluride Ski Resort (1.5 hour drive to Telluride).

Hunting for elk, mule deer, grouse.

The Lodge at Fish Creek Ranch is just down the road from Dunton Hot Springs.  We suggest visiting them  for lunch, dinner and a soak in their famous hot springs. The ranch is a beautiful hour drive to Telluride. Guests enjoy making a trip to Telluride for restaurants, golf and shopping. Mesa Verde National Park is just 25 minutes away. McFee Resevoir is 15 minutes away.

To complete your experience, the ranch manager will pick you up at the Cortez Airport free of charge, as this is the closest airport. If you need to be picked up at the Durango or Telluride Airports there is a fee and the ranch manager will coordinate this with you. He will be your host during your stay to show you around and assist in every way.
